At the dawn of the third millennium, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) decided to renovate its premises both in the capital Port-au-Prince and in the country’s second city, Cap-Haitian. The Bouygues Construction company was responsible for these huge worksites. Although criticized at the time for their ambition and their cost, this work would prove its full justification on January 12, 2010 when a powerful earthquake struck Port-au-Prince, destroying the city center and leaving only a few buildings standing, among them the imposing structure of the BRH.
