Nicolas Geffrard was a Haitian mulatto patriot who fought the war for independence and whose resting place is at the Platon fortress (that he had built) in the South near Les Cayes.

When the Bank of the Republic of Haiti redesigned the Haitian banknotes, Geffrard was put on the 25 HTG banknote.
