Since the launch of the Leclerc Botanical Garden project some institutions or NGOs employ youth from the area for cleaning or rehabilitation work. Many offenders get involved for the first time in a legal activity.

In August 2009, for four weeks, a workshop brought together twenty young boys and girls aged 16 to 25 years-old. all from Martissant. They were tought techniques of taking images, sound, design and produce documentary films. They did elaborate projects of short documentary films that were then finalized and produced during the last week of the seminar. The choice of themes was free, the only constraint being that these young people would illustrate the way they see their own neighborhood.

    C’est une formidable experience. Pourquoi pas mon regard sur la reconstruction/Construction de Haiti.
    C’est une idee que je lance… mais je sais nos idees ne valent pas grand chose quand on a pas d’atrgent. Mais je vous le dis vrai pauvre est celui depourvu d’idees creatrices et realistes…

    A vrai dire l’idée est excellente… Ceux qui pourraient justement financer ce sont ceux-là même qui reconstruisent ou aident à reconstruire. Mais pourront-ils supporter ce regard critique sur leur travail (ou non-travail)?
