An afternoon at the St. Bernadette soccer field. Two teams compete in the arena. An afternoon like many others… until police arrived. A game that quickly turns into a nightmare.

In August 2009, for four weeks, a workshop brought together twenty young boys and girls aged 16 to 25 years-old. all from Martissant. They were tought techniques of taking images, sound, design and produce documentary films. They did elaborate projects of short documentary films that were then finalized and produced during the last week of the seminar. The choice of themes was free, the only constraint being that these young people would illustrate the way they see their own neighborhood.

Great idea! I am a director from Martissant living working in New York. I am also the artistic director of a cultural group there called Granchimen. We have a TV show on public television, and we’re hoping to start a Haitian Film Festival next year, I”d like to know if the workshop is ongoing, and if there are other docs or films that were made. I would greatly appreciate any info, contacts or ideas about this group or any other group, or people in Haiti that are making films.
    Thank you.

Thanks for your interest. Workshop was only one month in August. There are other docs (7 total) and they are being posted one after the other. Stay tuned.
