In Martissant there is almost no economic activity. Unemployment is high. Young people spend their days in gangs on street corners or around a domino table or a bottle of rum. The hope of finding work is slim.

In August 2009, for four weeks, a workshop brought together twenty young boys and girls aged 16 to 25 years-old. all from Martissant. They were tought techniques of taking images, sound, design and produce documentary films. They did elaborate projects of short documentary films that were then finalized and produced during the last week of the seminar. The choice of themes was free, the only constraint being that these young people would illustrate the way they see their own neighborhood.

Specialists tell that business loans aid a lot of people to live the way they want, because they can feel free to buy necessary stuff. Moreover, some banks offer term loan for different persons.

First of all may God bless this site. Im from Port-Au-Prince Martissant. Left when I was nine years old. Took advantage of the opportunity America have to offer; work hard, graduated from high school, will graduate from college next year and I strongly believe its God’s destiny/plan for me to go back to Martissant and make changes personally to the community I grew up in. I will like to ask if appropriate to subscribe and sent me a friend request @ youtube.com/martissantboy to gather with you all wonderful people who have the heart for Haiti. Once again I trully bless this site and will keep up with it.
