Aftershocks

Posted on: 08:36 AM

Our regular visitors probably noticed that since our first year celebration at the beginning of the year and the updates we did at the time, there was no further change on the Filmhaiti.com website. No new film or video. You most likely know that on January 12 an earthquake leveled the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince. As thousands of others, we were not spared. Although we did not have human casualties, we did experience serious material losses : sacked premises, damaged equipments and archives. The website did stay online but we are not able to feed it as usual. 100 days after, we attempt a recovery that will be long and difficult.

First we must thank those that with their donations supported us in these terrible times. More than ever, the donations even small, are necessary. Before the tragedy we had started enhancing our feature length movie category and we had promised new stuff for the coming year. We also planned to produce some exclusive programming for the website. All this could be compromised by the lack of funding. Advertisements do help us stay online but they cannot alone contribute to expand the project. If you think this project deserves your support, make a contribution to its advancement. A donation form is displayed at the end of each of our videos. You may also buy any of the products we offer in our store.

On another matter we’ve been informed that some of our visitors (a minority) are unable to view our videos. We are on our way to solve the issue. In the mean time we advise them to use an alternate browser to surf our website. Please share the videos and films you like with your relatives and friends on social networks such as Facebook, Myspace or Tweeter. To help you a set of sharing tools is available on each video page.

Once again we tell you our commitment to better serve you even in difficult times. With your help, we will move forward.
